The Isaacs and Tramm Pro Mod Plymouth Duster stands as a testament to engineering excellence and aesthetic precision in the world of drag racing. Built by Chris Isaacs race cars who partnered with seasoned drag racer Spencer Tramm, this twin-turbocharged 1970 Plymouth Duster was crafted for the MSA British Pro Modified series, marking a significant addition to the European drag racing field.
The project commenced in December 2010, with the team opting for a Plymouth Duster body to ensure a unique presence on the track. A bespoke full-tube chassis was constructed from the ground up, incorporating innovative features such as a swing-away steering column and a rear axle housing designed for optimal performance. The 521 cubic-inch engine, previously used by the Lindberg Brothers, was paired with a pair of Precision Turbo 88mm turbos, delivering formidable power. A Bruno converter drive unit and a three-speed Lenco CS2 transmission were selected to handle the immense torque, while the rear end featured a CIRC-fabricated moly unit with Strange forty-spline floating shafts and carbon rear brakes.
The Duster made its debut at the Easter Thunderball event in 2013, with a focus on competing and contending in the MSA British Pro Modified series from the outset. with the car consistently running low 6 second 1/4 mile times. In 2018, the Duster made history by becoming the first-ever turbocharged Pro Mod car in Europe to win an MSA Pro Mod event. Demonstrating the car’s engineering and performance capabilities.
